I wonder how deep that thing is. That is seriously one impressive hole!

According to an updated CNN article, it's about 100 ft deep. It certainly looks deeper than that though.
It does look deeper. I've read accounts that say it's as much as 60 meters, which I would believe. It looks like 100feet just to the black, and then it must open up into a large room from there. Look up pit caves for more info on this type of structure.
My only non-geologist roommate was actually the first in my house to hear about this :) Pretty amazing. The sheer walls are what astound me the most... it looks so man-made.
